What are your plans?

My plans are simply to travel around the world as I have been dreaming about for so long. During my journey, I may decide to stick around a place if I love it, take up a job, or even go home if necessary (why not?). One thing is for sure, I want this to be a learning experience - about cultures, history, languages, and myself. When I do decide to focus on a subject, it will be the theme of the current phase.

What are these phases about?

I want my travels to not only be about seeing the world, but also about really learning something in the process. So far, I have lived as an archaeologist in Spain and studied Spanish in Central America. Currently, I am attempting to learn Russian in the former Soviet Union.

Where are you planning to travel by yourself?

My current phase will involve some or all of the following countries: Poland, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan. Future locations will depend on my money in the bank and what other learning opportunities I come across. I really can’t say where I’ll be headed, but I do like the idea of India ;-)

How do you have all this money to travel?

Work, work, work and save. I lived well below my means for over a year and put all the extras into savings. In addition, I picked up part-time jobs, cancelled cable, opened a couple of CD’s, sold my car, worked overtime, and so much more! Yes, I’ve done everything from scoring essays at home (email me if you want info), signing up for surveys from here, mystery shopping, affiliate marketing, ebaying, amazoning, anything that puts money in my account. No, it wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.
