"If you go to Antigua to go to Spanish school, CSA is a great school I just finished 10 weeks there. Great place. you all staying in hostels or other. I can suggest a couple good places but there not
hostels, Casa Ovalle, Casa Rustic. let me know if you would like more on this."

Thanks Leonard for the info, but I think we know where we'll be taking our Spanish.  My question is how do you feel your Spanish is after 10 weeks?

"Hey there. Came across your site (through the Eurotrek forum) and I'm loving it so far!  I would love to add a link to your site from mine (http://www.lemurworks.com/lola) if that's okay.  I too am planning a RTW trip but its closer to 2009/2010"

Hey Lola!  Glad you found the site, and yes, I would love to do a link exchange.  I'll add you on our resources page asap.  Wow, 2009/2010?!  At least it looks like you are taking some trips in the meantime to help tide you over :-)

"Hello Brian, and Brooke, I don't remember how I found your site, but, I wanted to send you a note of encouragement and just say hello.

I'm a little older than you guys, and have a spouse and kids, which make it difficult to contemplate such a grand adventure, but I salute you guys for your ambition.  I love reading RTW stories and blogs, just to live vicariously through others.  I just received a documentary movie called "A Map For Saturday", it is a great story about a guy giving up his day job and spending a yr out on the road, you can check out his blog/site at
www.amapforsaturday.com if you are interested.

Now for a few questions, 1) How did you guys make the decision to "go for it"?  2)Was there some event that influenced this decision?  3) From the looks of it, I like your plan, and traveling together will make these memories special as opposed to traveling alone, How did you decide which countries that you wanted to visit?  4) Is some destinations, like a little for Him, and a little for Her kind of planning?  5) Did your parents freak out when you told them? has it sunk in with them or not?

That's enough for now, I'm like a lot of others, who really are excited about your trip, and plan on following it as much as possible, also a little jealous/envious...  Btw, I plan on checking out the book you mentioned by David Elliot Cohen...

Cheers,
-Skip

Skip!  Well first off thank you for this message!  I definitely wanted to post this since there are some great questions here, so I will do my best to answer:

1) I've been dreaming of this for years.  I got the feeling like we better do this now or it might not ever happen.  Luckily, I was able to convince Brian of this and here we are - counting down!

2) I think we were just at that age where it was like this is really, really the best time in our lives to go - no kids, no house, etc.  Definitely, though, I feel like you have to do something that you dream of doing when you have the chance bc you never know when or if you'll be able to in the future.  Life happens quickly.

3) There are so many other countries we would like to visit, but just won't have the money to along the way.  I'm also sure that our country list will drastically change on the road as really our plans are to wing it.

4) There are a few that are definitely for me and more for him.  Italy and Central Asia are all me, and China and Spain are for Brian.  But, we are both interested in visiting ALL of these places.

5) My mom has known about my dream for years... seriously since I was 17, but I'm also sure she didn't think I'd ever do it.  When I first told her she was shocked, but not too much.  The real shocker was when she found out I was planning more than a year!  My dad has been super supportive of this idea since I told him.  He is, I think, a little jealous!  I hope he comes to visit along the way.  As for Brian's parents, they were pretty OK with the idea, and don't seem too worried... at least not yet.

Skip, I just wanted to end this by saying that I hope you take a another look at traveling around the world with your family.  This can be an option for you - just take a look at www.sixintheworld.com, or at this forum on bootsnall.com.  You obviously have an intense interest in travel, so I'm sure that if you just take the first step of setting the goal, you'll be well on your way to an adventure.  :-)
